"On Sept 5, my friend and I encountered shockingly terrible service at two Birkenstock outlets.
We went first to the store at Wheelock Place in our schhol uniforms. The salespeople were unhelpful and very unwilling to check for the stock of the design we wanted.
While trying the sandals, a salesgirl informed us that that the shop was not a "showcase" and that she knew of many students who came into the shop just to try out sizes before ordering the sandals online.
Unable to understand why we were given such treatment, we went to the branch at Tanglin Mall.
Initially, the salesgirl was friendly but with each request for a different sandal, she became increasingly rude. After passing us the third shoe or so, she began slamming the cupboard and throwing the sandals at our feet.
At the end of our visit, my friend reserved a pair of shoes. As we got up to leave, the salesgirl started hurling a similar accusation as her Wheelock Place colleague.
Despite the dissatisfactory service, my friend decided to purchase the shoes. We returned to the Tanglin outlet that afternoon.
When my friend asked the salesgirl to show her the shoes in two different colours, she shouted at us and demanded to know exactly how many pairs of shoes we intended to try.
Then, a woman whom we assumed was the store manager emerged from the back of the store, When she asked the salesgirl to apologise to us, the latter refused.
To our surprise, instead of reprimanding her staff, the store manager turned to us and warned us that if we were to leave the store without buying a pair of shoes, she would notify our school.
What made matters worse was that the salesgirl began taking pictures of us using her mobile phone withought asking for ous permission. We soon found out that this was done under the instruction of the manager.
I questioned the manager, to which she replied:" You're in my shop, I can do whatever I want."
My friend decided to make her purchase and leave. It was then the manager informed us that shes did not feel like selling the pair of sandals to us anymore. She hollered at us to "get out" or she would call the security guards." -- URBAN, Sep 22.

read this from urban this morning and i actually find it hilarious that such things really do happen. but again, you never know if it was only a sample of a model complain letter that was written by a student in school. but whatever it is, Birkenstock's reputation will surely be affected with such negative comments published in the papers.
