im so shaken by the catastrophe. 120,000 lives lost and still going. its hard to imagine what will be the total death toll. or will there BE a total at all?

i really have no idea. everyday when i switched on BBC or CNN i'll just sit there, staring at the tv, petrified by the images shown. it really brought me tears. i never knew that a natural disaster can do more damage than a terrorist attack. how many years will it take to rebuild the damaged buildings and homes?

today is the 31 Dec, new year eve. imagine what are we doing in Silosa Beach and what people are doing in the coastal areas of Sri Lanka, Aceh, Phuket, India? im not trying to say that we are wrong in celebrating new year.. its just that when we are celebrating here, corpses are laid on the beaches of the affected areas to be identified. what more can we ask for when we have a shelter over our heads, and on the other hand theres is an epidemic going on in India and Sri Lanka because they do not have proper living conditions?

im really uncertain if i should be celebrating for the new year or should i remain in grief for the tragedy.

but dont forget, today is the last day of the year. you may want to think back and reflect on what you have done this year and what had happened. it may bring tears of joys and sorrows to you. who knows?
